We have a number of world-class courses right here, and the golfing meccas of Pinehurst (1.5 hours west) and Myrtle Beach (2.5 hours south) are an easy drive. In Duplin County you can fish, hunt, canoe or kayak one of our many streams, hike a nature trail, or jump in your car for the short drive (about an hour) to one of North Carolina’s pristine Atlantic beaches.
History and Culture.
History buffs love Duplin County, and it’s easy to see why. The County’s heritage and Civil War legacy can be experienced firsthand at several museums and via our popular Plantation Homes Tour. Four of our towns - Wallace, Warsaw, Kenansville and Faison — feature National Register Historic Districts. Local residents also enjoy an active arts scene. The County is fortunate to have several excellent venues for cultural events and live entertainment, including the new 4000-seat Duplin County Events Center, Kenan Memorial Auditorium, and 1,000-seat Kenan Amphitheater, which presents seasonal stage shows under the stars.
Cost of Living.
Practically everything in Duplin County costs less than national averages, particularly housing. But just because you pay less doesn’t mean you have to settle for less. The housing options in Duplin County are virtually limitless, and range from apartment rentals to single-family homes in new developments, historic older homes in town centers, rural properties, golf course living and private gated communities.
